Q Where does Galice Resort park the cars they shuttle?
A Shuttled vehicles are picked up the day of the launch and parked on Galice property until delivery the day of the take-out.
Q What are the levels of rapids on the river?
A There are all levels of rapids on the Rogue River. See our whitewater rafting rentals page for a review of the Rogue River’s day trip rapids: http://www.galice.com/whitewater-rafting.htm We also sell Rogue River maps and books in the Galice Store. The maps and books show exactly where the rapids are located on the river and the class (degree of difficulty) of each of the listed rapids.
Q What is the best/most interesting stretch to raft on the Rogue River’s recreational section?
A It really all depends on what you and your group want to experience. There are approximately the same amount/size of rapids from Hog Creek to Grave Creek. Look on our website at http://www.galice.com/whitewater-rafting.htm for a review of the types of rapids and the lengths of the day trips we can offer.
Q Where is the closest ATM?
A The Pantry (small convenience grocery store) in Merlin.
Q Where can I get a fishing license/tags?
A Day and multi-day fishing licenses/tags are conveniently available for purchase in the Galice Resort store.
Q Do you take restaurant reservations?
A Yes, we do take meal reservations for 10 or more people.
Q How can I check to see if you have any room availability?

Q What year was the Galice Resort built?
A The Galice Resort’s beginnings included a small store/restaurant and a few early cabins which were built around 1945.
Q Is Galice a locally owned business or a chain?
A Family-owned and operated by the Thomason Family for 30 years.
Q Where do you get river permits?
A Rand Ranger Station (known also as the Smullin Visitors Center) (down river from Galice Resort but before Almeda). You can view directions and GPS information here: http://www.blm.gov/or/resources/recreation/rogue/index.php
Q Do you have Oregon road maps?
A No, but the Rand Ranger Station (Smullin Visitors Center) does stock them.
Q Do you have maps of the Rogue River?
A Yes, maps and books of the Rogue River are available for purchase in the Galice store.
Q Do you have old photos of the Galice Resort from the 1964 flood?
A Yes, you can view flood photos in the Galice store and there is also a BLM water level plaque on the outside post in front of store that shows where the water level topped out. During the 1964 flood, four original cabins which were located near today’s Galice Resort boathouse, were washed away.
Q How do I get my vehicle(s) to the take-out after using my own equipment on the river?
A Galice Resort provides shuttle services on all stretches of the Rogue River as well as the Illinois River. You simply need to stop by the store and coordinate with the friendly staff. Don’t forget to bring two keys for each vehicle. One set of keys to keep with you during your rafting trip and one key to give to the folks shuttling your vehicle(s).
Q Where can we have a picnic?
A Almeda or Indian Mary Parks.
Q Where can I get cell service?
A Once you reach Merlin, you should receive a strong enough signal to get cell phone service.
Q Where can I purchase last minute grocery items?
A We are happy to sell you any items we carry in the restaurant or store. If your grocery list is longer than what we offer in our restaurant/store, we can refer you to the larger grocery store located about a 15 minute drive away in Merlin.
Q Is there anywhere we can go to hike?
A Yes, Rainy Falls is 7 miles down river on the left right before the bridge. We suggest that you park on the right side of the road so there is no chance of debris falling on your vehicle." And make sure that valuables are not in plain sight. There are many other day hike options just a short drive from Galice. Check out our day hikes page on our website.
Q Is there anywhere nearby to camp?
A Almeda Park is a couple miles downriver from Galice and Indian Mary is approximately 5 miles upriver (Indian Mary has shower facilities and other amenities) they both have boat ramps.
Q Where are nearby public boat ramps?
A Hog Creek Access is approximately 7 miles upriver from Galice. Indian Mary Park is approximately 5 miles upriver from Galice. Ennis Riffle is 1 ½ miles upriver from Galice. Galice Resort: we have our own private boat ramp below the restaurant available for your use. Almeda Park is approximately 4 miles downriver from Galice. Graves Creek is approximately 7 miles downriver from Galice.
